Nvidia brings 3D software to HD-TV
2010-10-22

Graphic card maker Nvidia recently announced the availability of its software that brings the three dimensional games, photos and Blu-ray movies to 3D HD-TVs.

Nvidia’s 3DTV Play enables users of 3D Vision-supporting computers to view 3D content on 3D HD-TVs. The software works on Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems, supports connectivity to HDMI 1.4 HD-TVs and is compatible with 3D glasses from major TV manufacturers, Nvidia claims.

“3D games, video and photos on a big screen 3D HD-TV is an amazing experience,” said Phil Eisler, general manager of 3D Vision at Nvidia. “GeForce PCs with 3DTV Play software enable users to play nearly 500 games on a 3D TV. That’s far more than any other platform.”

Nvidia said with the addition of playback software and audio/video receivers, its Fermi architecture-based GeForce graphics processors enable HD 24-bit multi-channel at up to 192 kilohertz.

Nvidia’s new software is bundled with the new family of Dell’s XPS laptops. Dell recently revived its line of high-end XPS notebooks with which the company said it is aiming to re-imagine high-definition entertainment.
