Rockstar Replace with Take-Two until 2012 2008-12-18
Published yesterday, the results recorded by Take-Two in the fourth quarter of its fiscal year are not bright. Not content to announce losses amounting to $ 15 million (10.6 million euros) against $ 7.1 million (5 million) last year with the same period, the publisher said that its first quarter of next year should be well below estimates (between 175 and 225 million dollars against estimates to 310 million).
Corner of blue sky in the horizon for the least responsible, Take-Two has announced that it had extended its partnership with Rockstar. While the contract between the two companies should be completed in February 2009, Take-Two and Rockstar have finally extended their cooperation and are now in business until January 2012 at least. This is a very important point for Take-Two, because Rockstar franchises are the most profitable of U.S. publisher. Thus, for the entire fiscal year, the Grand Theft Auto franchise has reported 710 million dollars (502 million euros) in publishing rights, or 60% of total sales of Take-Two. For the fourth quarter alone, sales represented 17% of the publisher, or 40 million dollars (28 million euros) of income.
