Gemalto digital security provider, announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with Universal Music Group, the music company, to jointly promote the Smart Video Card as a new distribution channel.

The Smart Video Card is a Gemalto innovation that adjusts the contents of a DVD on a SIM card.

The disc's Smart Video Card with 120MB can be pre-recorded content to be played on any standard DVD player. The pre-mastering of the disc allows you to include audio and video encoding and add navigation menus.

The combination of this technology provides a unique medium for distribution of multimedia content in digital music device that is preferred in the PC, a cell phone or Mp3 player.

According to the release of Gemalto, through this agreement that does not include the territory of North America, Gemalto will provide the exclusive UMG content with their SIM cards, while Universal Music Group International will promote the Smart Video Card between operators that are already working to offer online content.
